The Eta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Nu is a diverse yet selective fraternity. Every rush we are looking for a range of men with leadership abilities who bring something different and unique to our house. At the beginning of every fall and spring semesters, Sigma Nu opens its doors to prospective candidates. Our rush lasts for the entire week and we offer a range of activities every night from BBQ's, a night of live music, professional break dancing contests, poker nights to special invite nights. If a student is given a bid, he is being invited to become a candidate and has the opportunity to possibly become a brother.

Why Sigma Nu? We offer a perfect balance of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and a close-knit brotherhood combined with diversity and character that remains unrivaled in the Greek system. Our founding principles of Love, Truth and Honor are practiced in the lives of every Sigma Nu.

Although some fraternities haze, we do not. In fact a big part of Sigma Nu's founding in 1869 was based on a principal of non-hazing. As such we treat our candidates like men. If you wanted to be treated like a little boy, there are other fraternities at SDSU that will do that.

Sigma Nu has achieved an exceptional reputation in inter fraternal athletics. In Our chapter has won the overall IFC sports championship banner 5 out of the last 10 years. This past year we reclaimed the number one spot in IFC sports once again and will be defending our championship this fall. When we are not competing in Inter fraternal sports, several members elect to compete in sports outside of SDSU while others enjoy competing in basketball, ping pong and poker tournaments at the chapter house. Sigma Nu puts heavy emphasis on achieving goals and academics; however, we feel there must be an even balance of playing time as well. "We feel that if you can work hard, you can play hard."

Perhaps the most common reason to join a fraternity is for the social aspect, and perhaps the most common reason to join us here at Sigma Nu is for our social program. We have exchanges and parties with sororities with unique and creative themes. We also have formal social events, such as our preferentials with sororities at the end of both the spring and fall rush weeks and our annual White Rose Formal in Las Vegas.

The basis for Sigma Nu is brotherhood. Everything that is planned keeps brotherhood in mind. We create the perfect atmosphere for developing lifelong relationships... whether it is a retreat, a party, or a philanthropic event. The friendships keep growing stronger to prove that the bond of brotherhood is for life.

The friendships that are made at Sigma Nu will be some of the strongest bonds of your life. Many of your best friends you will have in your life will come from your collegiate days as a Sigma Nu brother. These relationships carry over into the business world after graduation and become "door openers". You would be amazed at how many business and community leaders have come out of our chapter. The house is also a common recruiting ground for brothers looking to fill positions in their companies. You go to a meeting and see a Sigma Nu logo in an office and you instantly have a relationship you did not know existed. Some have come before us. Some will come after. But, we are all Sigma Nu brothers.
